My nine month old DS has a rash around his mouth and I'm quite freaked out about all the anti dairy stuff you see around - particularly the idea that an intolerance plays a part in autism. I can't wait to get him on to Rice Dream. Does anyone know from what age you can give a baby Rice Dream? We've also got alot of excema in the family.

Sorry, not much knowledge about ricedream. But i strongly recommend a cream called AVEENO for excema. My eldest charge suffered really badly as a youngster, and when this cream was applied, her skin would be clear within 2-3 days . Boots sell it, near the E45 etc, or you can get it prescibed by your GP. It's an oatbased cream, so completely natural. They also sell a menthol version, but don't get this one as your little one is too young to use it.

I second Aveeno advice. Try that first before doing any dietary changes, unfortunately milk is still the main source of fat highly needed to develop your baby's brain. I don't think Rice Dream is good enough for under ones. DS started with it being 3ish and stil we had a nutritionist suggesting to add more oil to it. There is also the issue of calcium, they do several presentations but sometimes the one with added calcium is not easily available.

Erm, I don't know if this will help to re assure you but... a rash around the mouth will be gone in a few months as your baby's body "learns" to cope with foods and allergens. I wouldn't suggest getting into restricted diets unless you have the help/supervision of a doctor, and you have tried every other route without success.
