Hi, my DD is 16 and diagnosed coeliac for 4 years and is well controlled on her GF diet. She has recently complained of sore fingers and wrists and i have noticed that one of her wrists was swollen. Ive had a look at the research and seen there is a link between CD and RA but just wondered if anyone out there had any experience of this. I have made an appointment at the drs but would be grateful for any advice, thank you (btw her sister and i have thyroid disease and her paternal grandmother has RA).

A friend of mine in her late 30s has CD, RA and had just been diagnosed with Lupus. All connected, according to her specialist.

I have RA and whilst not officially diagnosed as CD, I avoid wheat/gluten. I have digestion issues with it and generally feel 'well' and less fatigued without it.
Can't say fully that it helps my RA symptoms but I suspect flares happen more regularly if I cheat and eat cake/pizza etc
Please push to see a rheumatologist and don't be fobbed off by Drs, early intervention with RA limits long term damage - it's a miserable disease at times and she doesn't need to suffer in these days of medical marvels
