was just reading the swimming thread, and it occurred to me: as ds is unvaccinated, should i not take him swimming (have been thinking about doing this). also he has mild eczema, is that another reason not to?

i really really don't want to start a whole big fight about whys and wherefores of vaccination programme, but any advice on the above gratefully received. thanks x

hercules how is the fork? both of these links v v useful, thank you...looks like the eczema is much more of a concern re this than no vacs, but i won't know how it affects him until i try it...also i'm going to try kamillosan on this skin, and might buy some calendula cream... thanks lady!

What about putting vaseline on his skin before swinning? I personally would go with nothimng and see if it's affeected.

Are you expressing yet? I'm only going to do it at lunchtimes as cant get any in the evenings so will mix feed.

jimjam seems to have ansered you on the pregnancy thread

Heathcliffscathy · 20/05/2004 14:22

no...we sort of decided that it wasn't a dairy allergy as the introduction of whole milk/yoghurt hasn't made the symptoms any worse at all and also dh reckons the wheeze is a hangover from a cough. i'm still thinking we might cut dairy out at some point if there is no improvement in a couple of weeks...i'm probably craply wrong, but he is doing so great at the moment that i don't want to rock the boat. i gave him tuna with sweet potato, courgette and avocado today and he wolfed the lot: loved it...makes me smile

I take ds who has mild eczema and find it makes his skin no worse as long as it's once a week. I use emulsifying ointment on any crusty bits before I put on his swimwuit. I use a "rash suit" which is like a surfer suit but without the buoyancy stuff. This keeps his skin warmer and so less itchy, also he can't get at it. He has been wearing the same suit since he was 2 weeks old so it was a bit of a bargain really (15 months now).

Don't know about the vaccinations sorry, but I took ds before they were all completed, and in a private pool before they were even started.

The one thing I would say is not to dry him after the swim/shower, just load on his moisturiser cream on the wet skin while he lies on the towel.
