Am I allergic to the sun?

I have been getting a very red itchy rash so far every time we have had a nice sunny day.
It's on my hands, arms, neck, chest, back of my neck and also on my forhead.
Does anyone have any suggestions as I don't want to be having to cover up completely during hot sunny days.
Please help.
Leanne

Sounds like you might be, my dd has had the same thing, and the rash has turned kind of hard and scaly, the doctor prescribed her a steroid cream and advised us to cover dd up, not much help but your not alone...

I had the same, just developed a few years ago. Spent one holiday looking like Elephant Man with it all over my arms, legs and neck. I got antihistamine tablets from doctor which you can just take as and when you feel itchy. I started feeling itchy again on Sunday.

popoff - this sounds similar to what I get, though only the back of my neck is affected. I have self-diagnosed Polymorphic Light Eruption - see this link

I use a total sunblock and also cover the back of my neck. It's a real pain as I used to tan wonderfully. I'm convinced I developed it as a result of having had bergamot oil used on the area during aromatherapy massages (citrus oils can make your skin sensitive to UV).

I usde to get that although haven't for the last few years. My GP reccommended hayfever tablets - Benadryl or soemthing like that. Worked for me anyway - good luck
