I think (I could be wrong) if people have a nut allergy they are also likely to have a sweetcorn allergy - DH is allergic to both nuts and sweetcorn. Not helping I know, will go and think about this.

Ds is allergic to soya, nuts, dairy, wheat, fish and is sensitive to many other things including most fruits, most legumes and is even sensitive to potatoes and rice, so... corn based snacks like popcorn and plain doritos are the only mundane snacks he can reasonably have.

Obviouly, in a perfect world I would be avoiding everything that he is slightly sensitive to, but, as I have pointed out in other threads, I'm not sure I would be able to raise a healthy or emotionaly estable child in a mushroom and water diet.

So, I tend to choose from the lesser of two (or many) evils. Things are not perfect but hey! who has a perfect life?

hijack... hi LieselVonGiftwrapp... my son has a nut allergy, he can eat sweetcorn, but doesn't like it.... I must admit I'd never heard this before...

I have a list of foods to avopid given by Sam's BIBIC nutritionist, sweetcorn (only tinned) is on there; popcorn isn't and we regualrly give it, though sam is intolerant as opposed to allergic (to gluten; bad reaction to casein)

DS is allergic to tree nuts and sesame. He can also eat sweetcorn and loves popcorn I make myself. It's one of his few treats.

My ds is allergic to all dairy, eggs, wheat & most nuts but can safely eat popcorn with no problems and it is one of his favourite treats!

popcorn is well worth a try. It should be fine - a lot of americans are becoming allergic to corn, but that's because they put corn syrup in everything (a bit like peanut oil used to be in lots of things). The UK doesn't do this so much.
