unsettled when feeding

Hi was wondering if anyone could shed any light on what may be wrong with my 18 day old daughter .
She is entirely bf and until now it's gone really well , every time she feeds she seems to get really agitated and starts throwing herself around , this can go on for a good hour afterwards until I settle her , she seems in real pain and I can hear her tummy growling . she has been a bit colicky on and off at night times but infacol has really helped that . But like I say this is at every feed . Her weight gain is great . But this has only started the last couple of days .. Until then a feed would really settle her down . Could it be reflux ? Any tips welcome . Thank you

willburn, it could be reflux and/or other allergy reactions. My DS has multiple allergies and had a lot of gut/skin reactions from about 2 weeks old. Weight gain was NEVER a problem. He was on the 90th percentile all the way along - doc told us it couldn't be allergies because he was too chunky, and he couldn't have allergies because I was breastfeeding (and allergies can't go through breast milk). She was very wrong on both counts. He's actually got severe allergies, but it took us ages to get looked at properly. Latest research is that weight isn't an issue wrt allergies (though height may be).

Strongly suggest you start a food diary, and completely cut out dairy (as it's the most likely culprit), see if it settles down by the end of a week. If it gets better, but not entirely, might be other allergies as well.. food diary will help sort them out in time. It's a faff, but trust me, you'll be glad you started it. Allergy UK has a diary you can print off and use.
