If your first DC had CMPI did you second have it too?

Just that really. DS1 had CMPI, mostly outgrown now at aged 4. I've just had DS2 and wondering if it would be sensible to eliminate dairy again (am exclusively BF) in case it emerges in the coming weeks. He is 8 days old, at the moment he is doing normal poos, a bit runny but mustard yellow but the last couple have had the slight vinegary smell I recall with DS1, although they're nothing like the explosive green mucusy ones DS1 specialised in.

So if your first child had CMPI did your second also suffer from it?

Slightly different, but my DS1 didn't have any allergies and yet DS2 has CMPI, egg allergy and wheat or gluten intolerance. So definitely no correlation here!

My ds has fpies to dairy and soya. His consultant advised the best way to find out if baby dd had similar allergies was to bf and eat everything and see how she was. However he said definitely don't give cows milk formula and prescribed nutramigen. She's now 5 months old and apart from a little bit of eczema seems ok thankfully - nappies and weight gain fine and so much happier in herself than her big brother was. Not sure what to do about weaning her but that's a whole other topic!

DS was allergic to cmp, eggs, nuts, soya, sesame, chickpeas and lentils. DD is only allergic to eggs.

DD is non IgE CMPA (intolerant)

She still can't take milk.

DS not a jot of it on sight. But he is prone to sweat induced eczema. I don't think it at all related to dairy.

DS has always had a "poo face" grimace.

DD just sits and smiles as she easily empties her loose bowel for the third time that day.....

(Sorry, TMI). Their poop was different from day one. Colour, shape, consistency.

Thanks all for your replies. I'm hoping DS2 is non CMPI as things stand he is feeding well and gaining weight and his nappies aren't of the stinky frothy green kind! I intend to BF for a good while yet, til age 1 at least, so he'll be a good bit older before I have to face the formula question. Interesting that you were advised to use Nutramigen unlurky just in case, it's a pity DS1 refused to take that or Neocate so it was BF and onto soy milk at age 2 with him...
