My allergist has advised us that there should be a cure for the above in the next 5-10 years - there is research being done with positive results all the time. Does anyone have any info on this?

Haven't heard of that, although I have seen info about research helping to find out how the allergy develops which in turn will help to prevent other people from developing it.

So far the only treatment I have come across with is avoidance.

I did hear about it in the summer but no more since. It is wonderful news though. Am so pleased that there is hope that ds will not have to go through all his life with a potential life threatening allergy.

Hope it happens in the next five years rather than 10

similar stories have come out many times before but somehow the cure is always 5-10 years away.

There are some promising lines of investigation but I won't get too excited until the first cure actually arrives. Even then it will not be for the more difficult allergens, it will be a longer wait for some allergies than others.
