Allergen Free Art Materials?

Just looking for some information/ education really as I have never dealt with children with allergies before, are paints and playdough etc ever a problem, is there a need for guarateened nut, gluten and wheat free versions?

Please feel free to educate me

maybe not intended for eating but children do put their hands in their mouths!

oops...should have added, so yes, playdough is potentially a problem for some as most commercial varieties contain gluten.
