Consultant referral

When DS was a baby he was diagnosed with cows milk protein intolerance and placed under the care of an excellent gastroenterologist.
He eventually appeared to grow out of it and was signed off at about 5 yo.
He is now 10 but his digestion has never been brilliant, very loose stools with undigested food, stomach ache, very tired and skinny.
Our GP ordered bloods which came back clear for Coeliacs as that was his first suspicion, but there is definitely something going on.

My question is, given DS' history can I insist on a referral straight back to his original consultant rather than going on the merry-go-round of general paediatricians which could take forever to investigate DS' problems. Our GP is next to useless (even recommended we eliminate gluten prior to testing! Obv I ignored that).

Any advice welcomed, DS is not in a good way and this is an important year for him

Of course you can ask. If it was 10 years ago, is the gastroenterologist still there?

The consultant has moved to another trust but not a million miles away
