So my DD1 has a peanut allergy, confirmed by skin prick following a reaction some yrs back, was safe to tree nuts, bloods were never done. I totally avoid all nuts for her.
DD2 has eczema plus allergic sibling so higher risk. Also by default has not exposed to nuts, as home is nut-free. I requested she be tested now she's older for peace of mind. GP ordered IgE bloods. It's come back she's 'potentially allergic' to peanuts, hazelnuts, brazil nuts etc ... and coconut.
Coconut?!? I am in shock about her wider potential allergy but also I thought coconut was a seed not a nut, not sure why they tested this?
Does anyone know what the spectrum of allergens are when tgey run full IgE screen on the nhs? My gp said they only know what tested positive, any negative test results weren't listed.
I have not avoided coconut for either child. Does anyone have any experience of coconut allergy with nut allergies? Is it a skin contact allergy?
I presume a skin prick test will follow? Food challenge? DD2's not shown any direct signs of allergy after eating. Anyone else been through this process?
