Constant cough in 'allergic' 18mth old

My LB is allergic to many things including dairy, soy, and some fruits. He has an inhaler which is given twice a day (4puffs using spacer) and on montelukast and cetirizine daily. We cannot get rid of his cough, worse in the night and when waking.
Anyone have any ideas? He's miserable cos he's tired...and I'm frustrated!!!

Has he been tested for environmental allergies - pets, dust etc. My friends DH has a dust allergy and they have to damp dust their while house every couple of days or he gets wheezy.

It does sound like an allergy. My son is 6 and we have finally ended night time coughing and constant mucus production. It's been a long road. Lots of food exclusion, lots of chemical exclusion, he is definetly sensitive to animals and also to chemicals. He has a natural fibre mattress and a roll up one we take with us when not sleeping in his own bed. Also, I put dilute essential oils on his chest, back, feet and hands (blue tansy seems to be the one that works.)
As any trawl of this board will show you, sadly, it seems that each individual is different.

Haven't used it but salt pipe is recommended by many? vit c? vit d? take into steamy shower at night?

Good point about vitamins, high dose vitamin C helps when he is wheezing. (Google vitamin C to bowel tolerance for asthma.)

Thanks Folks! Very confused about all of this! Think I'm going to wait for our appt at Manchester Childrens' Hospital. I'm reluctant to remove more foods without having some kind of medical supervision x
