Yes I have tried Chinese remedies for excema.

They didn't help dd much and were v. expensive.

If you do try them just be careful because the herbs that are used for baths often contain strong steroids (apparantly, so my GP told me).

Our local chinese medicine place also sent off a lock of dd's hair for analysis to find out whatshe's allergic to - and since then I've found out that such tests are totally unscientific. But it did lead to dd getting RAST testing on the NHS so it wasn't all bad...

The GOSH organised some trials about chinese medicine remedies for eczema a few years ago and the results were very encouraging, however you have to bear in mind that these remedies are not harmless, a good dose and good quality ingredients for the mix are particularly important to avoid damage to liver or kidneys, so, unlike with traditional medicine where the medicines are already well mixed and packed in their containers, in Chinese medicine it's all about how good and reliable the doctor is, so find about the doctor before visiting him/her.

We have tried Homeopathy, we visited a homeopath that had recently graduated and was still supervised by her tutor. The results were very good but as soon as the tutor was out of the picture the magic was gone. And... have to say this homeopath had a very superficial knowledge of eczema so much of her unsupervised advice was, quite frankly, rubish.
