Should I worry about this reaction?

DD(12)recently ate a chocolate corn cake for the first time. She loved it but a few minutes later said her throat felt itchy and she felt jumpy and nervous. I presume it was a reaction, said not to eat them again and really just forgot about it. Today someone at school gave her a ryvita on the bus on the way home and she felt the same again plus a few red spots around her mouth.
Does this sound likely to be an allergic reaction and should we worry about it? I can't imagine seeing my GP will be any help but have a niggling worry that it has happened twice now. Do these things stay the same or get worse? Can you even be allergic to corn??(not even sure what is in ryvita)
She is not allergic to anything else but did have a reaction to cows milk as a toddler. She still tends to avoid it but eats other dairy with no reaction now.
Any experts able to give me an opinion?

That sounds similar to my nut allergy. And I had a similar reaction to a ryvita once even though it didn't have nuts in the ingredients - I think it may have been cross-contamination. So bear in mind that the allergy could be to something not in the ingredient list.

It seems a bit odd to me (though I'm no expert) to discover an allergy at that age. But you could probably go to the gp and get a referral for a skin prick test to check common allergens (eg various types of seeds and nuts).
