My 2 year old son has been on Soya 1 plus since he turned 1. He had a milk protein allergy since birth and was on nutrameign and then moved onto the soya.

Now I am wanting to change. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Nephew drinks a lot of nut based milks:

Coconut milk, hazelnut milk, almond milk, cashew milk

But I've also seen:
rice milk, oat milk, hemp milk

I think you can even get flavoured soya milk if you wanted.

Any of the milks the pp mentioned excluding rice milk which is not suitable for under 4s due to the arsenic content.

Thank you for suggestions - do you happen to know if they provide enough calcium and vitamins as cows milk and the soya 1 +? That's one of the main things I am concerned about...

Due to nut allergic DS i cannot comment on the nut milks, but Oatly and Koko have the same calcium as milk and I give these to my DS who is 2.

BaroquePearl · 23/10/2014 19:22

We use Oatly, I think it's great.

We used calcium enriched Oatly (red box iirc).
They also do a cream.

As above, don't use rice milk.

My CMPA 2 year old drinks gallons of Oatly, it's been great. It has been repackaged, the calcium and Vit D enriched version is light blue now.

The paediatrician recommended Alpro +1 soy milk once I finished bf, but it is so sugary, I think it's the second listed ingredient! Their yogurt is the same, I've discovered coconut yogurts in Waitrose. The CoYo ones are quite nice without being sugary.

KOKO coconut milk is in line with semi skimmed milk nutrition wise. Fab stuff.

Thanks so much. I bought some oatly and been trying to do a switch over.... been a tad tricky as i think he's used to the sugary Alpro ;) We will get there!

Will look out for the coconut yogs. Thanks again
