For those who aren't familiar FPIES (food protein induced enterocolitis syndrome) is the most severe form of delayed (non-IgE) allergy.

FPIES in it's acute form causes profuse vomiting 2-6 hours after eating a food or formula, diarrhoea can follow and 20% of babies go into shock. In it's chronic form it causes reflux, intermittent vomiting, diarrhoea, bloating and sometimes mucus or bloody stools. Most doctors have never heard of FPIES and misdiagnosis is common.

The most common triggers are Cow's milk, soya, rice, oats, poultry, sweet potato, fish and shellfish but ANY food can cause a reaction.

October 14th is officially the first ever global FPIES day! If you want to learn more or show your support please visit fpiesuk.org

(P.S Can an admin let me know if it's not ok to post this here.)

Thanks xx
