Wheat/Gluten Free Junk Food?

When you really really really need something crap what do you do?

I have an urge for a MuckDonalds breakfast. Or a Greggs sausage roll. And I have a long car journey on Friday and will be passing all those lovely junk laden service stations.

what can I indulge in?

Chips? - I had a Coeliac friend at Uni who basically lived on Chips.

AtYourCervix · 17/09/2014 17:31

MuckDonalds chips? Burgerking? Muckflurry?

I want chicken nuggets and orange cheese flavour goo. And a boneless banquet box.

Is there a shit food list somewhere?

McD's chips and has browns are GF, as are their eggs.

Tanaqui · 22/09/2014 21:05

Starve. Or cry. Take gf oatcakes and peanut butter everywhere (does any meal or snack). Bake! But worth it overall.

MaccyD chips. Raspberry curd on stodgy GF cake (coconut 'bread'. NOM.) Jelly tots. Starburst. Yummy things from the M&S service stops.

Have you got time to do some baking before the journey? Little cakes are good fillers. I believe that cool doritos are GF but I may be wrong there. I tend to buy packs of the corn tortilla chips to munch on.

I will admit that I caved and had the mozzerella sticks at McD's today. My head is quite foggy as a result and no doubt my bladder and bowels will be unimpressed in the morning Hmm

Pizza Express do a brilliant GF pizza when they have it in stock.

StepDoor · 22/09/2014 21:24

Second that. Pizza express do a brilliant GF pizza, honestly it is just like the real thing! Amazing Smile

PixieofCatan · 22/09/2014 21:29

It really is! I've never had a GF pizza like it, it's really doughy like a proper pizza is. The only issue is that they often don't have it in at my local one. We've ordered take out from there before only to turn up 30 minutes to pick up to be told that they didn't have a GF pizza base :( They gave us a £20 card to use with them though when DP contacted them to alert them to it (we'd ordered via their online system so they had no means of contacting us until we arrived!)

Pizza express gf pizza tastes like cardboard to me :( but points to them for trying

smoothieooo · 23/09/2014 12:29

Dominos gf 'Sizzler' pizza / Tesco Finest gf triple choc cookies. If I really need the MuckDonalds fix, I have a bunless Big Mac meal with a vanilla shake (and couldn't care less about the mess) Grin

CMOTDibbler · 23/09/2014 12:37

A McD double cheeseburger with no bun and fries is gf. Burger king fries are not normally gf though.

Reredos · 23/09/2014 21:37

Do biscuits count as junk food? DS do Custard Creams and Bourbon Biscuits that taste very close to the real thing. I got them in my local Morrisons. They are in little bags of two biscuits so perfect to pop in your handbag for that afternoon cup of tea.

M&S do amazing little pecan and caramel squares, like a millionaires shortbread but much nicer. I don't buy them often as would eat all five in one go! DH says they are nicer than normal ones.
I also get the gluten free chocolate oatcakes from Nairns, they come in little packs of 4.
Sweet and salty popcorn from most coffee shops.
Tortilla chips with guacamole and salsa.

Lagoonablue · 26/09/2014 06:54

Aldo do some fab choc covered rice cakes. The chocolate is lovely.

Lagoonablue · 26/09/2014 06:54

Aldi not Aldo.

IDismyname · 26/09/2014 07:00

Second Tescos GF seriously chocolate cookies. My father demolished the whole plate. And I'm the gluten free one in the family!

Meglet · 26/09/2014 07:06

Sweet 'n' salt popcorn.

I found a gluten free cheese and onion crisp the other week, possibly kettle crisps? Plain pom bears are GF Bear.

M&S sell sweet 'n' salt honey roasted cashews...mmmm....
