Yes, I am! Hoping for some new insights...

McBear · 27/08/2014 21:17

Can you sum up after? Pleeeaaaaasssseeeee. DP watching a film. Confused Highly interested Grin

Likeaninjanow · 27/08/2014 21:19

So far, they're saying it's due to a change in the environment, specifically bacteria.

meglet · 27/08/2014 21:19

yes. I've let DS stay up after GBBO. He's interested that other children have the same skin prick tests as him.

Likeaninjanow · 27/08/2014 21:23

I don't get it. I'm am an outdoorsy person. Ds1 has no allergies, ds2 has many & had them from birth. Doesn't stack up for me...

meglet · 27/08/2014 21:30

likeaninja the 'from birth' bit puzzles me too. 7yo DS has had problems since he was a few months old, although he's not too badly affected. DD doesn't have any allergies though. I wonder if his EMCS freaked his poor little immune system out.

Again, I've always been outdoorsy and far from a hygiene freak Hmm.

The dc's have always got mucky in the garden and I've never dusted in my life.

Likeaninjanow · 27/08/2014 21:35

Hmmm...now I could buy this antibiotic thing. I had to have them during his birth as my elder DC had group b strep...

ChangeIsNear · 27/08/2014 21:37

My DS had antibiotic too after birth. I would buy the anti biotic argument ...

meglet · 27/08/2014 21:39

I had something for a possible urine infection when I was 7/8 months pg with DS, I think that would have been anti-B's? What's the stuff that can discolour teeth?

DS never had any anti-B's though.

trixymalixy · 27/08/2014 21:41

Yes. DS had a vagunal birth, I breastfed, no antibiotics in first year of life and we had pets when he was born and are not too great at cleaning. All stuff ive heard about before. Not hearing anything new which is a bit disappointing.

Bragadocia · 27/08/2014 21:44

I don't have personal experience of allergies, but this is so interesting. I'd never heard about the pre-partum development of lactobacillus in the vagina at birth thing before. This is probably very ignorant and naive, but I wonder why it's not possible to 'paint' caesarean-born babies with a synthetic product or something.

Likeaninjanow · 27/08/2014 21:46

Ds2 had a vaginal birth, breastfed for 2 years...still allergic!

helensburgh · 27/08/2014 21:46

Lots of ideas, little evidence though.

BrookeDavies · 27/08/2014 21:46

DD had antibiotics at a week old. And developed horrible eczema not long after. She's grown out of it now, possibly due to my laid back approach to housework :)

helensburgh · 27/08/2014 21:48

No Caesarian here, or antibiotics, and breast fed for 23months. Son has chronic FPIES, eosinophilic disease, asthma, exec a and IgE to numerous foods.

Oh and she's had worms three times.

trixymalixy · 27/08/2014 21:50

I also used probiotics....

meglet · 27/08/2014 21:54

I 'engage with microbes'. I've always gardened and had pets, and don't dust.

meglet · 27/08/2014 21:57

And the dc's don't have an indoors lifestyle. DS was sitting in the garden chuntering to the g-pigs as soon as he could sit up.

trixymalixy · 27/08/2014 22:06

Disappointing. What a waste of time.

I used one by viridian that was CMP free.

I think I'm going to give probiotics another go to and I am going to try and get the kids outside more.

trixymalixy · 27/08/2014 22:20

*too

trixymalixy · 27/08/2014 22:23

I think I'll give this one a go, it has pre and probiotics.

greencybermummy · 27/08/2014 22:30

Anyone given probiotics to their DC long term?
Interested to see the link one is dairy free - thanks for that.

meglet · 27/08/2014 22:39

DS loves Yakult. I might buy it regularly for the forseeable future.
