Question about Fig trees?

Are Fig trees poisonous to children?
MIL has just planted one in her garden and i'm a bit concerened for my 15 month old as a friend told me today that they were poisonous?

the weeping fig plant has poisonous sap, but not the fig tree afaik, maybe she is confudes?
