No hives, but patches of redness - could that be a sign of allergy/intolerance?

DD has been coming up with patches of redness on her back. Only happened a few times. There are no hives.

Could this be a sign of allergy/intolerance to some food? Or to grass pollen or pet hair?

She is a multiple allergy child.

Could it be eczema? my DD2 doesn't get this anywhere else and hardly ever (compared to DD1) but if any eczema shows up it is always large red patches on her back that are only very slightly dry and not flaky. Usually goes with a good emollient.

I have a feeling it's a reaction to something but its only happened twice. The only things I can think of is exposure to:

• a lot of hazelnuts
• a lot of egg in baked goods via breast milk
• cat fur
• grass

Could it be any of the above?

It is so hard to narrow it down. Cat fur makes me get patches on my neck (of all places?!?). Other than that have you changed washing powder etc?

I always thought that cat allergy would mean you would get it at the contact point. So that's not true then?

She had it again yesterday after contact with grass and cat. She has been tested for grass and that came up negative, but has not been tested for cat allergy. Is there anyway I can check at home?

Well cat dander gets everywhere so even if you stroke one areas other than your hands can get affected. I just knew I was badly allergic to cats from an early age due to quite severe reactions to being in houses with cats/near cats. Even sitting next to a person who has a cat in a non cat setting can start me off! The only real way of knowing is an allergy check I suppose. Or if every time she is exposed you see a reaction. how old is she?

She is 14 months.

It's a few red patches on the back, which disappear after a couple of hours. DH thinks it might just be heat rash, but I'm not so sure.

Any ideas?
