Quite Servere Nappy Rash

Hey everyone so my 12month DS has a quite bad nappy rash for the past 3 days now :\ Every time I change a pooey nappy now he hesitates and even starts to cry a little especially when I'm wiping his poor little red bum :( I've used tons of sudacrem but it's only taking a little redness out. The other problem is he is a bum shuffler so I don't know if I should leave his nappy off as this might irratate the rash more... What should I do next? I feel helpless and guilty every time he needs a nappy change :(

a layer of metanium under the sudocrem could help. If it is red and shiny it could be thrush so you should go to the gp in case you need an anti-fungal cream

Agree with above, you might need a bit of Canesten HC to clear it up so it's worth going to the GP to get it checked out. For general nappy rash I found Bepanthen really good.

Are you using wipes ? As it could be something in them that's irritating. For a couple of days, I'd try just rinsing with water, patting dry & putting a tiny bit of bepanthenol on. Don't slap loads on, it's just a tint smear needed.

My DS had really bad nappy rash after taking antibiotics for a suspected case of meningitis. We were given a hydrocortisone cream on prescription and it worked very well and very quickly. I can't remember the name, but it had to live in the fridge and you could only use for 7 days at a time. It cleared it within days. Also as much nappy time off as possible.

could he have thrush infection?
