Coeliac Disease?

My DD has been suffering with chronic constipation for the last years which we've been treating with Movicol (wonder drug!). It's finally under control but she is still very pale with dark circles and a distended tummy even though there's no poo in there. The GP has said that it could be coeliac disease and we're off the to hospital next week for a blood test.

Does this sound like coeliac disease? Also, if the blood test comes back positive what happens next? Will she need to have further tests or do we just go ahead and cut out gluten straight away?

Thank you in advance for any help / words of wisdom!

Yes, it does sound like coeliac - the bloating and pale/dark circles. Does she get very tired/lethargic as well?

You can look on the Coeliac UK website for what happens during th ediagnosis process. It has recently changed for children, I believe. (I have two coeliac children). Until very recently, an endoscopy was required to confirm the diagnosis (and you have to continue eating gluten for that) but I think that now if the blood test reading is above a certain level, that will allow a diagnosis.
