What is wrong with me ?

I've had a pain in my right side off and on for ages. I would say I've suffered with constipation all my life (I'm 48). I have terrible wind. Since having DD2 who is 11 I rarely feel like I've fully emptied my bowels.

I can not eat hamburgers, the pain is too much. Crisps instantly make me fart, I think its the fat. I'm not keen on sandwiches, I just having a knowing feeling not to eat too much bread.

I never had much energy. I've had countless blood test for thyroid all normal. I have a yearly blood full blood test anyway because I have epileptic and the aed's can have nasty side effects. Iron and cholesterol and sugar levels are normal.

So this pain. I went to the gp a month ago. She put me on lactose for 10 days and told me to come back in 3 weeks if no better. I was worse on the lactose and still not 'regular'. She put me on laxido powders to be taken 6 times a day Shock (normal dose is 1 to 2 a day) and see her again in a week if no better.

I managed 4 a day and gave up. The pain was much worse and I was feeling sick. By now I was having a poo every time I went for a wee, but just bits of poo IYKWIM. After 6 days I saw the gp again and she examined me again and I leapt up the ceiling in pain.

She has referred me for an emergency scan. I am to have kidneys, gallbladder, ovaries, tubes and womb scanned. Meanwhile she has told me to take buscopan for my bowel which is now in spasm thanks to all that bloody laxative.

Sorry for the long op. At the back of mind I'm worried it might be a grumbling appendix but no mention has been made of what my pain might be. Or could I have a food intolerance?

Do you get enough fibre in your diet through fruits and vegetables. If not you could try giving that a whirl. Personally I don't really like eating the stuff but having it all blended (not juiced) in a powerful blender with a bit of water and the taste is transformed and quite nice. Could try that and see if it makes a difference.

Truthfully I can't say I meet the 5 a day every day. I keep a journal of all sorts of things so I what say I eat 3 a day plus either porridge, bran flakes or Weetabix for breakfast.

Yes stepping up the fibre is worth a try Smile

Is it odd that I have more pain whilst on laxatives?
