Long story I'm afraid...
For years now I have had terrible bloating and stomach aches with the occasional episode of bleeding, I have also had mucus but that has got much more severe in the last 6 months I also have a lot of left sided lower abdominal pain. And a 12 month history of mouth ulcers
I have seen my go who has sent me for bloods - all fine an uss to check for ovarian pathology and a smear:- all clear. He has now ref me to the IBD nurse at the hospital as ? Ulcerative colitis and advised me to take a stool sample.
I have never really had diarrhoea more constipation I do have urgency at times. I constantly feel tired and look 5 months pregnant, just wondered if anyone else has experienced this and what the out come was

Try twice daily actimel and peppermint tea after every meal - this helped me recently when i had some stomach pain and bloating. it can only do some good until you get a diagnosis - which i would suggest is from a gastro consultant?

I'm no doctor so I can't say whether it is or not, but I do have Crohn's which is a similar form of IBD and my symptoms are often like yours. If it does turn out to be UC, don't panic too much as it is usually very manageable with meds. I have flare ups from time to time (in bed with one right now!) but otherwise my life is perfectly fine with it.

I'd second a gastro consult. There are a bundle of possibilities with what you describe which haven't been addressed.

If it is inflammatory bowel disease don't panic. My DH has Crohns and has been totally well with it for a number of years he had mostly bloody diarrhoea and bloating, his Dad has UC and he had more slime/mucous, neither had mouth ulcers but they can go with Crohns- but they can also go with being generally run down!

I second the Actimel suggestion while you're waiting to be seen, DH self cured his first few attacks (pre diagnosis) with Actimel and Yakults and lots of sardine sandwiches!
You need someone to look at your bowel with a scope, I hope the hospital sort you out. Good luck!
