Best allergy free detergent

Hi,

Any recommendations for an allergy free detergent?

For what?
Washing?
Washing up?

steam?

Sorry, for washing DD's clothes.

DD is coming up with small spots on upper back and chest, and I'm wondering whether it might be related to the detergent? We are already on a multiple food allergy free diet

What do you use now? Washing powder or liquid, and at what temperature?

I've found that pretty much any non bio liquid is fine. Powder doesn't rince off of the clothes very well and can cause problems. Also make sure you don't use any fabric softener at all.
The other thing to be aware of is that if clothes are dried outside pollen can get onto them and cause skin irritation.

Liquid leaves a deposit in the washer though. I learned that today on a washing machine thread.

DD used to suffer badly with eczema and I discovered quite by accident that it was because I was using laundry liquid at low temperatures. This doesn't kill off the bacteria or mould that grows in washing machines and it wasn't until I switched to Ariel bio powder (yes that's right) and hot washes that the eczema disappeared completely.

I had initially bought the Ariel to kill off the nasty smell in the washing machine and the happy result was a fresh smelling machine, cleaner clothes and clear skin for DD.

Currently I use non bio fairy Ariel at 40 or 60, and vanish too, as her clothes are quite stained.

What's the best thing to switch too? I just want to see if it may be a factor and causing the spots, but as they are just in one small area, could this be unlikely?

Try a bio powder, different allergy react to different products, there is no one far all. (ex: DD1 reacts to aloe vera).
If in small area it is unlikely to be the powder though. Is it where the seams are in her clothes? tags?

We use Surcare (powder or liquid depending on the wash) or Pure tablets with NO fabric softener on a 'sensitive' wash (higher water level & extra rinse cycle). If the clothes are very stained, I wash them with normal bio liquid (eg Ariel) and Vanish powder first then rinse the detergent draw and wash it all a second time with Surcare/Pure.

You can use petroleum free detergents for washing. I hope they wont harm you.

I found that my skin irritation improved considerably when I stopped using fabric conditioner. My dermatologist later told me that fabric conditioner is one of the worst triggers for contact dermatitis.

I now use Surcare laundry detergent (usually powder, but for colours I use the liquid) and fabric conditioner. I wash everything at 40C, but run a 95C wash once a month or so.
