WHICH WASH POWDER??

I've always used surcare on DD clothes as she had eczema when she was born, but I find the clothes are dirtier when they come out than when they went in! I wash them on a 40 degree, but no dirty patches disappear even when I use vanish stain remover on them first. What do you all think, or do you use a different powder?

surcare was crap for cleaning IMO.

I use persil non bio and comfort pure. Have done since DD was born - she has had eczma since birth

How about this instead. You can buy them from places other than Lakeland - try googling laundry ball or eco ball. No nasties there at all.

We use Fairy non bio & comfort pure. Both DH & DS have eczema (DS v mild thankfully) and this is great for both of them

We use the Lakeland laundry ball which is great for washing worn clothes which aren't really dirty. For dirty clothes I often end up washing in normal powder (Aerial non-bio sensitive) and then washing again with the laundry ball to make sure all the soap has gone - total waste of time, electricity and water but it works...

We use Ecover but not sure it gets stuff really clean! The liquid is better than the powder and it smells nicer than Surcare IMO.

I also use persil non bio and comfort pure, I have used it from the birth of ds2 and he also has eczema, he's ok with it. I just use an extra rinse

We've just strated using Filetti sensitively clean [available from Sainsburys] and it seems really good - much milder than fairy etc which we found reacted with dd

Only thing about Filetti mamado is that the new formula contains almond milk. As dd1 is allergic to nuts I contacted the makers to ask whether the product could be described as 'nut free'. The question seemed to throw them completely. I was promised a call back from someone in product development but never got one. Speaking with the anaphylaxis helpline, I was eventually reassured - it seems that the nut protein (the offending bit) will have been removed. It still struck me as a bit of a loopy ingredient in a product that is so widely used (and recommended by) nut allergy sufferers!

Try dreft - can get it from asda but only comes in small boxes. we've never had any problems with it & was recommended by our midwife

Thanks for that info Utka. That sounds so silly - why include any potential allergen?

these people do lots of skin friendly alternatives which are green and not tested on animals, unlike all the big brands

we use ecover or persil non bio, also find it hard to get dirt out of many of DS clothes;

my son had eczena when a baby and eczema society rec' not using fabric conditioner as it stays in clothes fibres more than washing powder, have always used fairy non-bio and it seems to do the trick

We used Ecover as all 3 had eczema (which cleared up when they finished teething?) and we stopped using fabric softener altogether. I'm not sure it made any difference really.

My sisters boys (aged 9 & 11) have really bad eczema and she uses Filetti which has a marked improvement in one boy but not the other.
