husbands allergies

Hi all,

hope someone can help, Dh has just been told he has respiritary (sp?) allergies - they aren't sure what, the usual suspects. Cat hair (just got rid of cat) dust mites, air con etc)

Has anyone used an ioniser and found it helped?

anywhere I can find a list of cleaning products that set off allergic reactions?

Any other tips?

Hoover the bed regularly. Come to that a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter. Allergen pillow covers.

If you have just removed the cat, and please forgive the question it is not asked with any tone, how clean is the house (i.e. carpets and furniture especially)? Professionally cleaned just the once. Likewise the car - cat hair covers clothes, cats lick themselves clean, the car will be covered in cat hair (can you tell I am not the biggest cat fan?)

Diet - milk allergies can often go with it. Go dairy free?

What does the Practise Nurse say at your GPs?

Never used an ioniser - never seen the need, just stuck to the prescribed drugs.

You could also change any carpetting for wooden flooring, change curtains for blinds and when dusting use a wet cloth instead of polish.
Open windows wherever possible (lthough perhaps not advisable if conbined with hayfever).
Also as well as the anti-dustmite pillows (available in Argos) you might want to consider a mattress and quilt cover.

Would also second about the dairy free diet.

Good point about getting house cleaned - I know what you mean. Cat hair does get everywhere. I may look into it.

Going to go shopping at argos now!

He does have prescription spray etc but it gives him a headache so looking for alternatives
