DS is 18 months, has moderately severe egg, nut, sesame and coconut allergies, and is still breastfed. He's down to one BF a day - at bedtime - and I've not had any of the above since finding out about his allergies at four months.

But goddamn, I really want a cheese omelette. I LOVE eggs. It's currently 10.40am - if he has a BF around 6.30, would it go into his system?

God I feel so selfish even contemplating it. But I just reaaaaaaallllly love eggs and I've not had any in so long :( Am I really bad?

Gosh no, I know exactly how you feel. I am dying for a choc muffin and cold milk! We are dairy, egg, soya, nut and wheat free Hmm

Any chance you can wean him off Breast milk?

ZebraZeebra · 24/04/2014 14:16

I think probably he's close to weaning himself anyway. And I love doing it and would miss it. Realistically he's not going to be doing it much longer - I wouldn't have thought much past two years, and I've come this far without eating those things. I don't know what got into me today. I just really wanted a cheesy omelette.

Gosh your baby's allergy combo is hard! Well done you. That's a really restrictive list.

I'm sure I read alcohol passes out your system within a few hours meaning you could have a drink if your baby wasn't feeding at night. And I got to wondering if it was the same with things they were allergic to. I abstained in the end but I still want one!

Zebra, dont know if it works the same way!
I am dairy, soya, egg, fish, tomato and strawberry free... but only dairy soya and fish confirmed by food challenges so far. Dd is 4 months and am already pining after fried eggs buttered toast proper tea with milk...agh
Its worth it though, isnt??!tell me it is!

ZebraZeebra · 24/04/2014 17:43

Ahh wishful thinking!

It is worth it, very much. Most of the time I don't think about it and I'd rather he had my milk than me have a egg toastie Smile I had major difficulties with BFing in the beginning so to be 18 months in is an accomplishment. Take heart - DS was allergic to peanuts but isn't anymore -just almonds now - so hopefully your baby will grow out of some of these too. They might even be in the same food family so you can just stay away from one particular but still eat others.

Well done both of you for getting this far - it's not easy!

I am with you! DS has dairy/soy allergies and I would kill for a cheese toastie, a pizza, a nice slice of Stilton.

BFed for two years now and we are nearing the end...I cannot wait to tuck into all things cheese related.

Could you express some milk and then pump and dump?

I was off milk and eggs while I bf DS until he was 2. I found that he became less sensitive to the things he was allergic to in my milk as I had a couple of slip ups.
