Anyone had a baby with lots of hives?

My 5 month old was diagnosed with silent reflux and suspected CMPI a couple of months back. We're on meds for his reflux and I am dairy and soy free, he is mostly BF with the occasional bottle of Aptimel Pepti. He seems a much happier baby generally but every now and then gets huge swathes of what looks like hives/ bright red patchy rash on his face/ body. They go as fast as they come. No link that I can work out to what I am eating (not weaned yet) or to exposure to anything different. Has anyone had any experience of this?

I am so scared about weaning this time Hmm

Hi my son has hives as did his dad, they both call it their hot and cold rash as it seems to happen when they have a sudden change of temperature eg being active on a cold day and getting hot and sweaty or having a cool shower when really hot.

Thanks good evening - I wonder if temp changes might be part of it, they do sometimes flare up after a warm bath or feeding.

Could it be any of the other allergens you are eating?

Soya, egg?

Possibly even wheat?

DS has dairy/soy allergies and broke out in hives a lot when we started weaning. He's two now and not allergic to anything else, thankfully.

The allergist said sometimes babies skin can be very sensitive and reactionary to touch, heat, foods. I stressed a lot but it was fine. It stopped completely by nine months ish.
