Red Blotchy Face

My Ds is 15 months old, and every now and again, his face gets really red and blotchy and it lasts for about 15 minutes before it fades away. This has happened on 6 different occasions, 3 of them being today. There doesn't seem to be any link as to what he has been doing before it appears, but he does rub his face a lot. He also has baby exczema, so I don't know if that has something to do with it..

It doesn't seem to bother him but I'm concerned as to what it is. Has anyone else had any experience of this?

OMG, I've only just noticed the thread below, that's exactly the same rash DS gets. I haven't notcied a link between any foods he has eaten though. I fact yesterday, he hadn't eaten anything, he was playing with his toys.

Do you still think it could be something he is allergic to?

Hi what is the rash like if you dont mind me asking? Is it like a hive rash? I have a son who has many allergies and sometimes when he has mild allergic reaction to certain things he comes up in a rash, very red cheeks and the urticaria(hive) rash and sometimes his face swells.

Hi, it's tysmaw, I've had a name change.

It's not really raised the rash, it's more like blotchy patches. There's no white centre to them and it doesn't appear to be itchy. I'm 80% certain now that it is cats fur that it causing it (only if they have been shedding, and it is lyig around and he touches it) so I'm trying to keep him away from the cats. I'm still at a loss at what to do. I don't know whether to give the cats away or keep them and hope he grows out of it.

Hi sorry not posted another message. Just came across it again to be honest. Sorry. I take it you have still had some problems since you first posted in Aug? Have you been ot your gp? My ds2 is allergic to cats & dogs & when he has contact with them a rash appears but it is a Urticaria(hive) rash, like when you get stung or bitten. You said it is not raised rash. Usually urticaria rash is raised.
