Hi
I am 17 weeks pregnant and i am diabetic type 1 (insulin pump) and have a gluten intolerance (Coeliac).
Is there anyone in the same situation? I would like to share ideas of how to cope with these conditions during pregnancy.
I am coping very well myself. GF diet has helped me to improve my glucose control but I still suffer with anemia.
Trying to treat anemia during pregnancy is difficult and iron tablets lead to constipation. Anything to help with constipation will have glucose. i am not happy to take insulin to treat my constipation.

Hi I have no experience of these things combined but it must be tough as one on its own is enough. Can you drink grape juice? that used to help me in pg to 'go'

Hi pituca.

I found the best, most digestible form or iron was in floradix which you can buy at the chemist. It's quite expensive but a really good suppliment and I found it excellent in pregnancy. I'm not sure how much glucose it has.

Can I ask why you are reluctant to take stuff with glucose? I thought it was just a case of setting the pump to deal with whatever glucose you're taking in a basal bolus sort of way.

My 6 year old ds was diagnosed type 1 last December so I'm just getting my head around it.
