i bought an extra tune today in tescos, it was behind the counter. about £6.50 for a 100ml tube. dd1 got perscribed it last week, and we ran out over the weekend (her skin is really really bad), the improvement within a couple of days was fantastic, and within 2 days of going back to dermol her skin was red raw again.

It is sold in boots and some chemists. You don't need a prescription, but you can ask GP to prescribe it to make it cheaper - some GP's havn't heard of it so need some persuading to look it up in their books.

Is this for an allergy? or dry skin

Hattie05 · 01/08/2006 23:47

misdee was it you using protopic? or your sister?

misdee · 01/08/2006 23:50

no not us. it was taken off for children wasnt it?

i wanted dd1 put on it when it gfirst came out as we were getting througth tons of steroid creams, and people on the eczema boards had great results with it. but last i heard it was pulled as it increased the risk of skin cancer.

Hattie05 · 01/08/2006 23:52

yes thats what i was going to tell you.

I got my consultant to prescribe it for me about 6mths ago but i chickened out (cos of the risks) and never used it. I went to see him recently and he was glad to hear i hadn't used it due to the higher risks than they previously thought.

i feel quite releived actually.

unfortunatly dd3, at 18months, her eczema is also getting worse. she has a some lovely patches on her legs. i need to get her own perscriptiopn sorted now, as the nurse keeps telling me its dribble rash (on her legs??).

Hattie05 · 02/08/2006 00:04

sorry but lol at dribble rash???

misdee · 02/08/2006 00:05
