we are on day 4 today and dd still has a really painful tummy. I am sure when we stopped it when she was younger it was better in a day or 2.

When my ex was diagnosed in his 20s he was told to give it a week to get fully out of his system.
I suppose it will spend on how much and what forms of gluten she's been eating recently.
Hope she feels better soon.

Weeks, if not months. Theres a lot of damage internally you can't see, and that takes a good while to heal

DS1 was 4 when diagnosed. There was a lot of improvement in the first week but it took 6 months for the tummy aches to completely stop. The consultant advised that since his case was severe it would take up to 2 years to fully heal. We are nearly at that mark now and his latest blood test shows that the antibodies are almost, but not quite gone. So it can take a long time.

For him, any gluten creeping into the diet from cross-contamination causes a bad tummy ache within a few hours
