Nalcrom( sodium cromoglicate) - any behaviour side effects?

My son has been prescribed this as a colonoscopy showed he had some food allergies that may be causing his bowel problems. We had tried wheat and dairy free with no success so this was prescribed.

Since starting them in October his behaviour has good so aggressive and angry. He always had this tendency but it has escalated hugely.

Its not helping with his bowel issues either!

Nalcrom isnt usually associated with behavioural issues. Montelekuast is, is he on that? (Aka Singulair)

No just nalcrom and movicol. Its probably just coincidence but he's like a different child. We dont have another appointment till next April.

I thought I would try 2 weeks off is as a test as it has done nothing for his bowel issues

I would.

If you think it effects his behaviour, stop it for a few weeks.

Conversely, Nalcrom takes about 10 weeks to take effect.....

Ah,.tat's interesting thanks. the consultant didn't give us any timeframe.

Hi @reup

This was over a decade ago now, but I'm wondering if you recall stopping it making a difference? We're having similar issues with my daughter (more than normal 4 year old behaviour) who is on sodium cromoglicate.

Many thanks!
