Fexofenadine for allergies

This is the first year I've had hay fever which started the end of May. After trying all the different over the counter antihistamines which had no effect, my gp prescribed fexofenadine 120mg. It worked instantly, great for 1 month, then I stopped taking it for 2 days and my symptoms returned.

My symptoms are: whole face swells, especially my eyes, skin goes red and is awfully itchy & lumpy with blisters on my eyelids and lips. I feel like I've been burnt.

I've been retaking fexofenadine for the last 4 days but it doesn't seem to be working. I'm sat typing this with a face pack of hydrocortisone cream on, feeling really down in the dumps.

Have I completely messed things up & become "immune" to this antihistamine, or do I need a higher dose? I'm going to make a gp appointment this week, just wondered if anyone had any advice tonight.

(I've no idea what I'm allergic to so I'm calling it hay fever)

we use fexofenadine and chlorphenamine for 7 yr olds allergies, so you may need something else to top up the fexofenadine, we r gonna wait for allergy clinic to see if anything better...

tried loratadine with piriton, now on fexofenadine and piriton.

though I find he still needs 2 or 3 doses of piriton throughout the day when reacting, sometimes a double dose, so 10 ml dose instead of 5 ml.

ask for allergy testing too so u have a better idea what you are dealing with.

Thanks ukey. Interestingcre combining antihistamines. Will see what gp says, and will definitely ask for testing.
