EXCEMA BACK AFTER SO LONG??

My DD is 17 months old and suffered from excema from birth til about 6 months of age. After using oilatum & hc cream we thought we got rid of it as she's had no problems now for a year... But, after this recent heatwave, it's back!!
We've used her normal simple factor 50 suncream as we have before... So, is excema linked to the sun? I always thought the sun helped skin conditions like excema...?

can't help MMM but dh's eczema flares up with the heat. he's had it since a baby. poor dd also inherited his skin. my totally unscientific theory is that they are both 'hot' people and their sweatglands can't cope.

I think it is the dryness of the heat tbh. and also the pollen count has been stratospherically high in the last few days which I think just flares everything up.

Tepid baths twice a day and lots of moisturiser, and maybe also a paddling pool in the garden with some emollient oil in it?!

Good luck, it is horrible isn't it

my dd1 is 4.5 and had awful eczema which cleared up well at 9 months, but she gets summer/heat flare-ups every year - the skin can't breathe as well, especially if it is smothered in suncreams.

Don't be afraid to revert to the HC creams - if your dd has been ok for a year her skin will have 'learned' how to get better and it'll get better again.
