Sticky swollen itchy eyes on holiday, don't inow what else to try

I'm really hoping someone can help me! I've got very itchy, painful, swollen eyes. They feel like sand is permanently stuck inside. I get this every year in summertime but right now it's so bad I can't go out. They are also running permanently with sticky yellow stuff. I'm taking clarityn but doesn't seen to be doing anything. Also tried anti histamine eye drops but no difference. I'm also doing camomile compresses to soothe as it usually helps but that too is making no difference. I've got two iids who are desperate to be out on the beach and it's agony! Any suggestions for me?

Sounds like infective conjunctivitis, the sticky yellow stuff isn't normal with hay-fever.

Go to the pharmacy for some eye drops, if you are in the UK you can get an over the counter one called Goldeneye I think. It can be very infectious so keep to your own towels and everything so as not to infect anybody else. It should pass in a couple of days but is very uncomfortable

Thanks. I've had it for at least 2 weeks now, and had it in may too when I was away. I get it every summer. I'm pretty sure it's allergic although I guess it must also be infected now as you say because of the sticky yellowness.

Dh had this. Normal eyedrops made it worse. He needed antibiotics plus 2 types of special eye drops all prescribed. Can you see a doctor?

I can get to a doctor but not one I'd trust particularly (speaking from experience of local doctors here). What did your dh have exactly angryfeet? Was it allergic?
I'm now freaking out after googling (bad move, I know....)

There are drops called Brolene which are available without prescription and work well for conjuctivitis.

It may be orbital cellulitis too.

Ds suffered from it for a period last yr, the swelling was quite nasty.

It requires different treatment to conjunctivitis iirc so I'd get it checked out as soon as you can
