Anyone with an allergic DC in Cambridge?

We're moving there in August with DS (3yo) who is allergic to milk, eggs, wheat, sesame and most pulses. Just wondering where to find shops that sell freefrom stuff and also where to find a GP who is sympathetic to allergies! If you don't want to post anything publicly about a surgery or GP, please PM me. Looking forward to the challenge of a new city, but also a bit worried, so am seeking the wisdom of my mumsnet allies ...

Cambridge has Addenbrooks Hospital that has a brilliant allergies clinic, they are the group running all of the desensitisation programmes (inc. peanut allergy). If you do a search on MN for Dr Andrew Clark you will hopefully find the Q&A he did. Brilliant Dr for SDD. Good luck x

Would second the comments about Addenbrookes, they've been brilliant with my DS.

There is a health food shop in the city centre which I've bought dairy free food from www.revital.co.uk/, obviously your DS has a wider range of allergies but they seem good for getting alternative food.

You'll find the peadiatric provision for allergies in Cambridge is very good. Your ds will get treatment by allergy consultants who are genuinely world experts in their field. Do you know about the work they are doing to treat peanut allergies? Not only that, but there is an excellent outreach service and nurses go into schools and nurseries to do training with all staff on how to support children with allergies. When I read what other people have to put up with re allergy testing in other parts of the country, I am very relieved we live in Cambridge.
