Should I ask GP for Epipen?

DS is 3 and was diagnosed with moderate nut allergy to various nuts. I have to take Piriton everywhere. A bit concerned that he may need an Epipen but it wasn't prescribed so assuming not needed. Wondering if should ask GP for one? He has had 1 bad reaction and aside from that plusnthe day he was tested he hasn't had any more exposure to nuts afaik. Any advice?

yes. get an epi pen. ask to be reffered to a pead allergy clinic, (as per NICE guidelines)
you need to,
see if any nut allergies are now outgrown.
to confirm with an immunologist what his current allergy status is, and their professional opinion for yr son.

ring anaphylaxis campaign helpline for further support.

He has seen a paed allergist and had tests around 18 m ago. It was him that said he didn't think an Epipen was necessary. Maybe I am overanxious.

Just wanted to share my story. Ds has allergies, it was only a mild allergy to wheat. Allergist said epi-pen not required but dermatologist prescribed one just in case as I had mentioned the reaction to her. Turns out we needed to use it 3 months later when he had a severe reaction to an undercooked omelette. I don't mean to scare you and you might never need it. But it's better to be safe then sorry. Smile

He was the consultant for the allergy clinic at our main hospital.

Not sure if I should just go back to GP and ask his advice.
