Rash Under Armpits

My DD 22 Months has developed a lumpy red rash under her armpits she doesn't seem all that bothered by it but it looks awful. I am not sure if it is because we aren't drying properly under her arms or because of the stuff we are using in her bath J&J which I know is not the best according to some people

I also don't know if she has suddenly become very sensitive as they put ambre solaire suncream on her at nursery a couple of weeks ago when we had the hot weather and she broke out in lots of red spots on her cheeks which now seem to flair up and down but haven't gone completely

Do you think I should take her to the docs?

It could be that you're not drying her well enough, but if it's that then it will improve very quickly once you make sure that she's properly dry. Or it could be something like thrush - it's quite common under the armpits in adults, maybe it's the same for children.

If it doesn't clear up within a couple of days of really careful drying, or if it starts to bother her, I'd get it checked out with the GP.

If something gives one a local skin reaction, then that reaction can trigger sensitivity elsewhere in the body. I would stop using all products in her bath for the time being, just use plain water. If you are in a hard-water area try giving her oaty baths (a generous handful of porridge oats tied up in a piece of tights, and swished around and squeezed in the bath water). Dry her well after teh bath and don't use talcum powder on her either. Give it a few days and see how she gets on.

Thanks WigWam and Pretty Candles we are making sure that we dry her properly now and it hasn't cleared up

we were using talc b4 but have stopped

should we bath everynight or leave it for a few nights?

I would continue bathing, at least in hot weather, given that the rash is in her armpits. Children don't sweat much, but if does get hot again then that is of course where she would sweat.

BTW, the oats may sound crazy, but they really soothe.
