RAST tests say no problem but still

having problems with dd.
She had the RAST tests in Jan and they came back clear.
Put her back on everything the paed said, so we did.

She now has a bloated tummy and cries and says "stop it" which we presume is tummy ache.

She has problems going to the toilet(she always has this as she has CP)

Her prescriptions for special foods has been stopped since the test results came back and we dont have another appointment with the paed until middle of June.

Any advice for me?

Thanks

Call them for another appointment as you cant go on if it is making your child ill.

RAST tests are notoriously unreliable...our dd came back negative but our consultant still decided to take her off all foods and give presciption based food and she did improve drastically. He told us that in young children, a positiev is accurate, but a negative means nothing..go back to your GP so that he can get you a sooner appointment...

Unfortunately, there is no perfect test for allergy diagnose, RASTs are not that bad but I wonder if they pick up intolerances aswell as allergies.

DS had the bloated tummy and severe constipation, which disapeared when we removed dairy from his diet. His rast tests show him slightly above the higher limit of "normality" but the effects are quite notorious. Curiously enough his index for egg is 300 times the higher limit but we were not really convinced he was allergic to egg until we saw the tests so as it has been already mentioned check the tests but keep a diary of food-reaction relationships. HTH

Can you remove the suspected allergen for a few days and see if the problem improves?
