Anyone using Aptamil Pepti 2?

I've been prescribed this for 8 month old DS and just a bit confused by the instructions ( never used formula before ). It says to mix it up and feed from a beaker, not a bottle? Is this just because it's for 6 month old and above? I thought they were ok to use a bottle until about a year old. DS does have water in a free flow tommee tippee cup, but I don't think he'd drink enough milk from that.

Can I use a bottle or does anyone know if there's a reason why it says beaker? I'm aware I could just be over thinking this, am already baffled by instructions telling me to boil a kettle, then wait half an hour, then make bottle, then throw it away if not drunk in an hour?!

Yes it can be fed from a bottle. You can make the bottle with freshly boiled water then stand it in a jug of cold water to cool down. It needs to be thrown away after an hour just because of bacteria etc. After being freshly made, it can be kept in the fridge though for 24 hours before use.

Thanks for that! I've read other threads on here about how people really prepare/store formula vs how they tell you to on the tub, but wasn't sure if it was different for hypoallergenic formula. Although having read how they make it, it seems it's just normal formula that's been shook up a bit! ;)

dc4 was on hypoallergenic formula, other 3 all on normal. no difference in the make up, feeding etc. personally I'm from the 'old school' where bottles were made and kept in the fridge for 24 hours. I'd still do it that way if I had another 1 now, but there's no chance of that, family complete at 4dc Wink

After 6m I started making his formula (pepti 2 as as well) with 1/3 boiling water and mixing all the powder with that and add the rest cold water from the tap. Sooo much easier, bottle straight away!

janey - I'm not sure about using water straight from the tap... From that age I would boil the kettle then make bottle a couple of hours later but I've never added cold water ... Logically I'm sure it would be fine, but ...

If they're drinking tap water already then why not? Cooled boiled would obviously do the same job, I used it for a couple of months, just popped a jug in the fridge every night x

I think it has to be boiled first to remove ???... something which I really don't know! When mine were 6 months and had juice from a cup I still made it with cooled boiled water. I'm trying to work out why though!?! Logically there's nothing wrong with our drinking water so I really don't know why it's so important to boil it first then cool?? Confused
