Called NHS24 for DS who is 3 earlier tonight...symptoms point to a reaction to something. Chemist agreed when she saw him and he's had 2x2.5mls of antihistamine syrup. Been sound asleep since 8 and his temprament has been neither up nor down with ot. Just checked on him there and welts/blotches are now spread iver his body...is this to be expected?!

I would wake him and see if he is well in himself. Give more calpol if enough time has passed.

My DS had anaphylaxis so I wouldn't take any chances.

From the sounds of it it sounds like a slow reaction to something. My DD is severly allergic to nuts and she vomitted immediately and went floppy as well as very swollen lips and eyes when she had nuts (carries epipen now). She sometimes also gets what you describe and we cannot determine what it is and just give her histamine until it clears up. Could be something he touched or ate giving him a mild reaction? Keep an eye on him. If he is fine and is breathing fine then don't worry.

Thanks Goofy...gut is telling me it will pass. On the rare occasion he's been poorly he is inconsolable...but his form has been great all night since blotches appeared. DP has nut allergy and carries Epipen so know symptoms there, but nothing like it with the boy.

Shameless bump...so DS slept til 9am and was then in great form for the day. Had another 2x2.5mls of antihistamine syrup...blotches all but disappeared. Then at around 3pm it all appeared again! He's been asleep since 4pm, have woken him 4-5 times but he just tells me he's still sleepy. Think a visit to Doc in order tomorrow...any other advice meantime folks?!
