Soya sauce - possible allergic reaction to fumes, from stir fry???

Hi. DS1 has no known food allergies, 'just' a penicillin allergy. but ds2 has excema, so we know there may be allergies lurking.

Last week I fried rice and veg and added quite a few dashes of soya sauce. DS1 almost immediately felt ill, and "off his food" - not like him.

Tonight I did stir fry veg in soya sauce and ds1 started feeling ill with chest pains/cramps before he had a mouthful. No difficulty breathing, and no tingling in his mouth.

It may be a coincidence. He's v. sporty and pretty exhausted at the moment, but it did seem to be a strong reaction, having been totally healthy inbetween, Any comments/thoughts v. welcome.

I used to have severe asthma attacks as a kid from just the vapour off potatoes being cooked so there could be something in this and even now I can't eat potatoes cos I have the same reaction tho it's not quite so severe from just cooking vapour/steam. There's a doctor called Harry Morrow I think who's an allergy specialist, google him, he knew the doctor who diagnosed me and he's really up on allergies.

Thanks Herplatino. He started coughing a lot at bedtime, so we gave him his brothers inhaler. I am inclined to think that it was something like you, so will follow up - and start investigating what soy/soya is an ingredient of, to start avoiding.

dr harry morrow brown is his name, allergies are so tricky but I'm a teacher and even recently on a residential with kids, a pupil just got tingly lips ( she has a nut allergy ) and no one cold pin in down to anything being eaten but she was sure it was in the atmosphere. Good luck and be insistent, keep a diary, above all you know your child.
