Green poo since weaning

DS is 7 months & has a CMPI & has issues with soy. I have coeliac disease so am currently gluten, dairy & soy free while BFing.

DS has had frequent green poo since we began weaning and is going all the time. This is what happened with the dairy/soy. Do you think he could be having issues with something or us thus normal once they start solids?

Green often suggests air/gas- I would talk to gp.

I went to the GP who dismissed the green poo as normal when they start weaning. Hes still having them but not as often. solids are going well & he's enjoying them, although he has broken out in hives a few times with a couple if things.

My new concern is that he hasn't gained any weight in two months I'm pretty sure it's because he's been pooing so much.

Has anyone experienced this? What did you do?

does he it a lot of blueberries? turns my babies poo greeny/blue?
and it doesn't really take that many to do it!

He was having blueberries with porridge, which i stopped but it made no difference.

He was going 10-12 times a day and seems to be reacting to things in my breast milk, red peppers, wine.

He has terrible dark circles under his eyes this week which I think could be an allergy thing ?

Is he having gluten in his diet?
If he is and he isn't gaining weight then it is definitely worth getting a blood test for coeliac. Current NICE guidelines are that close relatives should be tested.
Unfortunately I have found that GPs are not very knowledgeable when it comes to coeliac disease. I would take a copy of the NICE guidelines

and point out that your son meets 2 of the criteria for being tested, if
they still won't insist on seeing another doctor.
In the meantime I would advise to get him weighed monthly by your HV and keep him on gluten. Good luck.

Green poo can mean many things. For example, broccoli and spinach can turn poo green quite harmlessly, and green poo may also be an indicator of allergy/intolerance. If you are breastfeeding, then green poo can also mean the baby is having lots of the 'foremilk' at the start of a feed but not staying at the breast long enough to reach the high-calorie, fat-rich milk you make at the end of a feed.

Sorry to ask for too many details, but what consistency is the green poo? Could you take a picture of the next one and show it to your health visitor? (health visitors probably have more experience of babies than the average GP does) Might also be worth keeping a record of what your baby eats, so that you can see if there is a link beween the green poo and any particular foods.

You could also try seeing a different GP. I think the combination of occasional hives + green poo plus + poor weight gain means you would be within your rights to ask for a referral.
