Is there a bubble bath suitable for exzema sufferers?

My ds has exzema, but he would absolutely 6love a bubble bath. I used to use Johnson's baby bath, but even that played his skin up, so now he just gets washed in water.

Is there anything I can add to his bath to make bubbles that won't play his skin up? He misses the bubbles so much and I think they are a lovely part of a 3 year old's bath. It's a shame he is missing out.

I use Oilatum or E45 but they're not very bubbly, sadly. You can get little coloured tablets that fizz away in the water and change the colour - they're a bit interesting and might be OK.

johnsons is the work of the devil its awfu lfor my eczema kids.

we rarely have bubbles, but they like the lush baby baff bombs.

it has no harsh chemicals in it, although does have essential oils which some eczema sufferers can't tolerate

i use infacare its the only bubble bath that doesnt cause a flare up and has a lovely baby smell!!

SorenLorenson, I use aqueous cream on him, but it doesn't really foam, does it!

Misdee, I'm glad it's not just me with the Johnson's, I thought ds and I had defective genes or something, neither of us can use it but you would think it would be gentle, wouldn't you?

Simple baby products are good for excema, and they do a foam bath.

Can you not use oilatum in the water to improve the skin and buy bubbles for blowing whilst he is in the bath instead?

Have tried Simple, Waterfalls, and I found it ripped my skin to shreds so don't dare try it on ds. Thanks for the suggestion though.

No bubble bath allowed in the gingernut household either. I use oilatum bar if they are grubby. (and it may look like a naff toy but it is one of the most played-with bath toys we own).

DS2 (aged 5) just has Oilatum Plus and then passes a lot of wind! It's bubble heaven!

I get Balneum plus and Cetraben from the Docs for my DD and Oilatum Junior for my DS. I can't find any difference between the 3 but I alternate them and I find that it helps as their skin can get used to one thing. I normally use one of them for a week and then I'll switch to a different one.

Sorry meant to say that none of them make bubbles. I think my DD has just resigned herself to the fact that she can't have any.

We use Nivea Baby but don't think you can get it in UK.

Don't use Johnsons, it's really harsh.

I use Superdrug Evening Primrose or Dove on my two, just occasionally, and it doesn't seem to be too bad.

The only one doesn't upset DS3 (eczma currently bad and bleeding as I changes to Asda ) is the chamomile one they stock in Lidl.

Yep Peachclair, the Asda baby sensitive skin one made my hands terrible just from swishing the bath!

Poor lad! he tripped at Cm today so has a bleeding ear with eczma and a bruised face

I know it's not bubble bath but when i excemais bad, put some oats in a sok/muslin/hanky and tie it tightly. It is SO soothing - really clears my excema up even when it's cracked and bleeding. I was sceptical but had nothing to use and it work miles better than slimy oilatum etc!

I can now use tesco sensitve bubble bath (never thought I'd be able to use a shop brand but hey!!) and my excema is so bad I have a season ticket on the skin clinic SOS list! If you use hte bubble bath, let him play then pop in the oats as they can sometimes help make the bubbles disappear. Johnsons baby soft wash is also OK for me but I can't use the normal bb! Hope that helps

I get it on prescription they do shower and bath therapy not sure how bubbly in bath but lathers up a treat in the shower. --
Used to get a face wash in same range very gentle but have to buy it now stockists include boots and pharmacies but not sure if the ingredients but very gentle for eczema.

Try Halo and Horns range available in Tesco and Morrissons for about £2.50 - it has no nasty chemicals in and has helped my son alot.
They do shampoo, baby bath and body wash in fun fruit fragrances.

We alternate between the E45 bath stuff, which is a little bit bubbly, and oilatum which is indeed slimy. Have started to use Halos and Horns shampoo, and dd's back has really cleared up (she has long hair). Haven't tried the rest of the range, but it is nice for her to be able to use something that smells nice. But her eczema is fairly mild, and it might not be good for the more severe variety.
