Oral Food Challenge - What Does It Involve?

Hi, I had a thread on here a few weeks
ago about DD1 who has a peanut allergy (don't know how to link, sorry!) after being unhappy with the Registrar's decision not to agree to a Food challenge I have spoken to the consultant who agrees that she should have one. So my question is what exactly does this involve? I have a fair idea but I would like to hear from someone who has gone through it, might help to alleviate my worries. Thank you!

Thank you, didn't realise it would be that long!! So forgive my ignorance but what precautions do they take in case of anaphylaxis?

ds has had tree nut and egg challenges
he loved it ..but it is long and drawn out

the tree nut one ..which i assume may be similar to a peanut one involved gradually eating a few biscuits with the nuts in them.

as babybarrister said they do BP etc at various points

ds also had bloods taken at the start and end of the challenge , but that was part of a research we consented to

ds failed his egg challenge at the first hurdle..lips became swollen when it as wiped on them so that was a much shorter day
nut challenge took from 9 till 4 i think
there was plenty for him to do . playstation/videos/games books etc. He wasn't allowed to stray far from his bed so did get bored at times

we took a packed lunch

Thank you for that, and there I was thinking they'd give her a bit of peanut, see her reaction decide what to do, talk to us then let us go home!! At least I know what to expect now.
