Do I stop putting her through this?

Trying to work out whether to try my 9MO DD with cows milk again.

She has an egg allergy and we are trying to work out if an intolerance to cows milk protein too - as advised by her allergist.

Tried her twice (few months ago and this last fortnight). First time she had a week of really foul smelling diarrhoea. Of course it was possible there was another cause for the diarrhoea which is why we tried again. This time, we paced it more sensibly. She was fine with baked milk in biscuits, but had two episodes of horrible diarrhoea after trying cooked milk. She also seemed to be in discomfort at night...

Problem is - she has also had a virus to coincide with all this :S Part of me wants to try again to make sure she's 100% and we can definitely say it's the milk causing the problem... I'd love for it to be fine... but part of me thinks I'm clutching at straws, and we have two challenges... which probably cause her pain etc and I should just accept that we need to stay dairy free for a bit longer... My son was CMPA so I am used to it and I know that people have much bigger challenges than this to cope with!

I don't know what to do for the best...

So we pressed ahead with trying her with some cooked milk - rice pudding. She had two episodes of really foul smelling diarrhoea the day after... She also seemed uncomfortable at bedtimeVery similar to what she had the first time we tried to introduce dairy much less gradually when it lasted for a week.

Poor girl she keeps having diarrhoea each time you feed her milk, and you keep feeding her milk.

How many times is it going to take before you take the hint.

Fair enough - that's what I thought ... it was only twice to be fair, and I think having had very straight clear reactions to allergies in her and my son before I am desperately looking for certainty before I take things out of her diet longer term... and such nice things :) but hey, we can easily live without milk!

It's really hard, I tried and tried with DS2 and really couldn't be sure - alwasy possible they have a cold or bug or something. But it does seem like an uncomfortable reaction. I would leave it a few weeks and then try a small amount of baked again, maybe not rice pudding with 100% milk but mix a smaller proportion in.

Thanks heliotrope - good to know dilemma is shared.

And thanks too for the meal ideas on the other thread... I've not tried fish pie since going egg free(we used to love boiled eggs in it) but it was a favourite and you've inspired me to give it a try egg and cow's milk free :) and fish cakes too - yum!
