Ds referral has finally come through for allergy testing. Im just wondering what to expect? At the moment we know he is def allergic to egg. We have been avoiding citrus and nuts as well until we know, is it possible that other allergies will show up despite the fact he has had no other reactions?

Hi.from what I can remember they will take a medical history and then I think they will do a blood test to see what he is allergic to.So you will probably have to back for the results of that. Hope this helps . I'm sure that someone more experienced will be along with more info.

DS had his appointment this week. We arrived at the hospital and saw the nurse for weighing and general medical.

We had a chat with the consultant and then had skin prick testing. This involved ten little drops of liquid being put on his arm and then the arm being scratched with a surgical blade. He showed no sign of discomfort. He then went to play play station for fifteen minutes. After this time there was a reaction to two different nuts.

He didn't have any blood tests, I was told that if all of the tests were negative even though he had previous anaphylaxis then blood tests would be done.

We saw a nurse at the end of the appointment for advice on care plan and emergency treatment. She answered any questions we had.

Good luck.
