Milk intolerance/allergy ... help!

My 8month old ds definately has a reaction to cow's milk - squitty and foul smelling nappies.

He is ok with yohurt and cheese.
So what do I do now ? He is breast feed and won't take formula. I was hoping to put him on cow's milk as a main drink from a year as I am going back to work.

Please don't say express, I can't bear it. But will have to , won't I...

Sounds like an intolerance, rather than an allergy. You can use rice milk or soya milk?

What sort of hours would you work, when you go back? After a year (after 9 months even), babies are often fine with two feeds per day, so if you could feed in the morning and at night.

Or use an alternative milk. Or goat's milk?

Thanks

I am going back to work 3 days a week as a teacher, and I can go to Granny's ( who's having ds) to feed him at lunchtimes.

But (selfishly) I was hoping to give up breastfeeding by then. DD went onto a cup overnight - she had a nursing strike when she got top teeth at 10 months, which suited me fine. Was hoping for the same time scale this time round...

I want to give up so I can stop wearing such horrible bras! I know that is silly, but clothes look crap over big, not underwired bras and I am fed up. I want to look smart for work.

And now he has this intolerance I know it will be best to feed for longer...

You can wear underwire bras while breastfeeding, you just have to make sure they fit well.

Hi K74. I'm new at this so apologies...however, my ds2 was like this all the way. I had started weaning him from about 5 months off the breast and each time he would throw up constantly. He wouldn't keep anything down and as I got absoloutely no support from my Doctor, I just had to whittle it down...and I soon discovered he had a cows milk intolerance. It was rather severe as a wee baby (it's amazing what food has cows milk or lactose in it) but he has largely grown out of it. He is four next month and still drinks Soya milk.
